Kayleigh Nelson, CAS

I hold a BS in Psychology and currently am an intern in the Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. I am also a Certified Addiction Specialist and have been counseling in the substance use field for more than 5 years as well as working in schools with children and families for the last 2 years. I focused my training in Dialectical Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral, and Moral Reconation Therapies. I have experience treating adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders in outpatient and inpatient settings. My counseling style follows mainly an existential and holistic approach. I encourage clients to be authentic and find meaning in their lives, as well as see themselves as a whole being of mind, body, and spirit. During counseling we consider physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing, as appropriate. I encourage clients to accept themselves and where they are at while challenging them to reach their goals. My hope is to create a safe place where clients feel heard, respected, and validated in the experiences and goals. I look forward to our time together!
