Tara Stroesenreuther, MA, LPCC

Child, Adult, and Teen Counselor

Hello! I have been working in the mental health and human services field since 2014 when I started as a volunteer in the children's program at TESSA. My recent work has been in Child Welfare and as a Behavioral Specialist with children. My Bachelors is in History from CSU-P with a concentration in Sociology, Psychology, and Anthropology. I have my Masters of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis with additional class work in counseling techniques.

My passion is working with individuals, families, children, and adolescents in creating a safe and comfortable place to work through emotional stress while developing the skills to navigate the world around them. I use a holistic approach while providing realistic outcomes for my clients which includes normalizing situations and developing non-judgement. I work with my clients to incorporate creativity in the setup of the sessions to ensure the experience is individualized to their needs. In session, I use evidence-based approaches which include: Narrative Therapy, Solution-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy among others. I work with clients who suffer from anger issues, anxiety, depression, ADHD, guilt, shame, behavioral issues, self-esteem issues, and relational issues. I have experience working with trauma, family changes, grief and loss in the LGBTQ+ community. I am passionate about helping our youth feel and become successful in their daily lives, helping individuals and families undergoing substantial changes such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, and the birth of a new child learn new ways to deal with these stressors. I look forward to meeting you!
